The L'Aixertigada Vineyard

This terroir is named after the ancient farming techniques used in the area, where a team of seasonal farm workers used to farm the land manually using peculiar triangular-shaped hoes which were called “vineyard hoes”. It is one of the lowest parts of the estate along with the Barranc del Geroni area.
The soil is deep thanks to sediments and conglomerates from nearby areas which have enriched the soil and given it a certain degree of fertility. We have therefore opted to decrease the plantation area of the vineyard, thus increasing the density and therefore the competition among the vines. This minimises the environmental impact so as to guarantee optimal levels of quality. The main variety is Cabernet, which is planted below one of the estate's most emblematic forests. Known as the L'Aixertigada forest, it is the largest on the estate.
