The Davall Roca Vineyard

This is the highest part of the estate. Even today, we can still find old terraces with banks of limestone which were there to protect the soil from erosion and therefore make the land easier to cultivate. The soil, which is in general poor and shallow, lies mainly on limestone or slate in the lower areas. Most of the vineyard faces south or southwest and from midday onwards the area is cooled by a light breeze, referred to locally as “la garbinada”. All the grapes grown in this vineyard are of the Merlot variety.
